Estate Planning and Probate Administration:

       Jack M. Rosenkranz and Walter G. Bullington, Jr. assist individuals and families in planning their estates. This involves not only reducing estate taxes, but also protecting the estate during life. Medicaid and long-term health care planning are often of major concern to our clients. Management of assets and health care decision making are also a part of this plan. We also advise heirs and fiduciaries on the process of probating estate and filing necessary tax returns.

       In addition to planning for the possibility of long-term care, we advise clients and their families after such care ensues. The rules of Medicaid eligibility change almost daily; as they become increasingly complex there are pitfalls for the unwary, but there are also opportunities for the astute planner. The Firm can help guide clients through this maze. In the more complex cases, the firm is available to prepare the Medicaid application itself and see it through the often lengthy approval process.

Medicare and Medicaid Appeals:

       At both the federal level in the Medicare program and at the state level in the Medicaid program, government workers often deny benefits to which applicants are entitled. The firm represents clients in the confusing administrative process to secure the benefits the system is supposed to provide.

Guardianship:

       The firm represents people seeking guardianship of relatives who can no longer take care of their own affairs. We also represent the proposed wards themselves when they object to the choice of guardian or to the appointment of one at all. The firm represents the guardian, leads the fiduciary through the probate court process and provides advice on the fiduciary's role and duties.

Health Insurance Representation:

       Health insurers increasingly deny coverage to which beneficiaries are entitled. Gaining coverage through advocacy and careful analysis of insurance policies, is also a service provided by the firm.

Nursing Home Placement and Social Work Services :

       Many families are overwhelmed by the burden of finding a nursing home for a loved one. Often the situation becomes a crises when the elder's condition has deteriorated to such a point that he or she cannot be cared for at home any longer or is in a hospital that is threatening to cut off Medicare coverage. The firm can assist in arranging for care at home or in choosing a nursing home of choice. We can relieve the stress of overburdened family members by taking care of much of the legwork and by acting as an intermediary with hospitals and other providers.
